Michael Onett President/CEO
Michael has 22 + years of Hospice recruitment experience. With over 1000 successful search assignments under his helm, his team of recruitment specialists have successfully supported countless leading hospices since the mid 90’s. Onett began his hospice recruitment focus by helping Vitas Healthcare through its major growth campaign throughout the 90’s and into the 2000’s.
At one point Onett had accomplished the placement of 77% of all executive management staff nationally as well as performing management searches for Johns Hopkins Home Health Care, Hospice of the Florida Suncoast and Capital Caring Hospice formerly known as Hospice of Northern Virginia, Beacon Hospice, Community Hospices, Aseracare, Odyssey, as with dozens upon dozens of other hospices nationwide. Onett has innovated new recruitment processes that ease the burden of cost and shortening the hiring time line for hospices that wish to grow and remain competitive in this difficult labor market. Onett is the founder of the Internet’s only hospice specific Career Center, Hospice Choices -www.HospiceChoices.com and The only Home Care Career Center www.homecarecareers.com . This national career center for the hospice community provides comprehensive advertising 24/7/365 coverage on the Internet at a very affordable price.
She was the Director of Market Development with leading healthcare providers including VITAS Healthcare, the nation’s largest hospice provider with and ADC of more than 17,000. For more than 6 years Meridith was responsible for ensuring competencies of sales managers and leading sales forces. She also identified the strengths of an existing sales representative. She received awards for her recruiting and assembly of sales teams. She ensured their success in large hospice operations with as many as 10 sales representatives within designated territories while serving as a mentor and trainer for regional sales leadership in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.
Her expertise is noted as setting goals/quotas for each hospice program with a goal of ensuring promotion and growth of hospice services that serviced hospitals, long-term care facilities, skilled nursing facilities, personal care homes, assisted living facilities, physician practices, home health agencies and community partners such as the Alzheimer’s Association, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, and Council on Aging.
Additional noteworthy accomplishments include Meridith identifying over 400 accounts that weren’t being targeted and she executed a plan to create a new sales territory which went on to be a Leadership Council winning territories. Meridith was able to secure the first end-of-life pilot program with Ohio’s largest ACO by identifying the top 2 DRG’s that contributed to the highest utilization of hospital expenditures and readmission rates. As a result of this pilot, exclusive and on-going education to physician practices within the network was granted as well as on-going goals of care conversations for patients with high readmission rates that were still experiencing functional decline while receiving and exhausting optimal healthcare treatments.
The firm was founded with help of a great friend Jay Berman. Jay had 29 years of Healthcare HR experience at the VP level. Jay used to train our recruitment teams and processes. He was responsible for establishing the HR functions for Vitas Healthcare the largest independent Hospice in the world (ADC over 17,000) with over 50 locations and 17 states represented. He innovated all HR processes for an emerging VITAS Healthcare now exceeding 1.5 billion in annual revenues. 18 YEARS under Jay’s direction it grew to be the largest multi-state National hospice provider nationally. Jay was solely responsible for recruiting and hiring the leaders of VITAS. There is no person in hospice that has more years and vast strategic experience in hospice. Mr. Berman had essentially been there and done that in every conceivable way pertaining to Human Resources in health care while specializing in hospice. His vast experience made a difference for so many while never losing sight of what hospice is all about…again unlike so many today who own and run hospice today he never lost sight of what hospice is all about. Hospice’s ability to grow and provide great service through great people! We will forever appreciate his kind mentorship.
